Saying goodbye to someone is always hard, especially if that person has been part of a winning team for many years. Parting ways are then difficult and emotional. Kapama River Lodge staff were all very sad to say farewell to a wonderful old gem who has been a member of staff for just over nine years.
Johannes Sibuyi, a waiter at River Lodge, recently celebrated his 60th birthday. He decided that the time had come to spend the gentle years of his life in retirement. Many guests to Kapama River Lodge may well remember Johannes, if they were lucky enough to have him as their waiter.
The staff at River Lodge came together to thank him and wish him well for the years ahead. Johannes will be remembered for his big friendly smile, dance moves, and positive involvement -especially at the Christmas Party’s held for the children of the staff working at Kapama. Johannes, always showed kindness and consideration to all. Johannes leaves as a respected friend – always welcome and never forgotten.

I remember Johannes’s dance moves. Like all the staff at Kapama River Lodge, he made us feel so special and welcome. Enjoy your retirement, Johannes.
My wife and I remember him. We stayed at the River Lodge about 3 years ago. A lovely man. May he have a blessed retirement.
I remember Johannes well from my visit in November 2014. His smiling face and friendly manner, along with his very special way of saying, “Thank youuuu,” made every meal even more enjoyable. I often think of him and wish him a very happy retirement.
